World of Tanks Brief Overview

First of all let me congratulate Hellraisers for being the WGL grand finals champion.

They overwhelmed EL gaming 7 to 1 with their brilliantly executed concentrated fire against opponent team rush.

CLASSES

Light tanks is the fastest tank class in the game with primary role of flanking and passive scouting. War Gaming League Grand Finals champions of 2015 and ALL contestants used soviet tier VIII T-54 lightweight tank in ALL of their matches and formations.

Medium tanks are upgraded version of light tanks with improved armour and firepower(both penetration & damage) while a reduction in the speed department.

Heavy tanks is the most heavily armoured class which is even more heavily armoured than medium with firepower that has lower penetration then medium but higher damage output albeit suffer a further speed reduction.

Tank destroyers is a class with the highest penetration power in the game and also have an overall higher firepower in term of damage than heavy tanks. They have an extremely armoured or well angled front that is way better compared to heavy tanks. They possessed the speed of medium or heavy tanks which resulted in very weakly armoured sides and back when compared to a heavy, medium and barely beating light tanks. The sides and back are bad. Really bad.

Artillery is the class with the highest damage output in the game but suffer from having the low penetration power, longest reload time and next to no armour on the tanks itself but they do have speed of light tanks and are mostly hidden behind allies. Both Quickybaby and Mighty jingles like to call them "scumbags" as they tend to rain death on unsuspecting tanks half a map away.

Caution : These descriptions are generalisation of the vehicles in that particular class but exceptional tanks with exceptional and interesting stats make them exception to what is written above.

The first three classes are generally more versatile than the latter two as both are very specialised vehicles with more unique play style. I recommend those who start out in this game to try one of the three classes first before venturing into the latter.

Damage Mechanics (General)

Every time a round is fired out of a tank and send flying straight into enemy armour, the round penetration value is pitted against the armour effective thickness and when its greater, the shot penetrates and the damage is dealt to the tank HP while insufficient penetration cause zero damage which is exactly like a bounce. A bounce occurs if a round collide with a plate of armour at 70 degrees or more and is basically a ricochet. Thus high penetration with low damage value is at least better than high damage with low penetration power as some damage can still be dealt.

However, a large part in this game involves skills as well and I have already mention in the previous post that advance tactics employed by the players include but not limited to the following below:

-Angling

-Side scrapping

-Reverse side scrapping

-Horizontal rocking/Wiggle

-Bait fish

-Hull down

Camouflage Mechanics (General)

Every tank in this game has a certain camouflage rating with light tanks having the highest score. It is also depend on the actions that is being carried out at the moment like a tank hidden behind bushes will be more stealthy than a stationary tank which is more stealthy than a moving tank which is also more stealthy than one which is currently firing shots. This hidden rating interact with the opponent tank view range stat and ultimately decide at which distance will you be visible to the enemy considering a direct and unobstructed path between the two of you.

Hanger / Garage

The place where all your vehicles are stored in between battles and management of tanks and viewing of stats are done at here. But not without a bit of anime mod first for me and I personally prefer the vocaloid miku hanger.
